The redesigned 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe three-row crossover SUV costs $35,345, including a $1,395 destination fee, Hyundai announced Wednesday. Better equipped hybrid versions start at $38,345.

That’s a big $5,260 increase over the 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe. The 2024 Santa Fe Hybrid costs $2,600 more than last year when equipped with available all-wheel drive; last year it was standard. The silver lining to these price increases is that the 2024 Santa Fe Hybrid is only $500 more than a similarly equipped SEL, Limited, or Calligraphy gas model.

Everything about the new family hauler is bigger, with three rows fitting up to seven passengers due to its longer and taller proportions. In design, the boxy Santa Fe borrows as much from the Ford Flex and Land Rover Range Rover as it does from a Lego truck.

Gas models use a 2.5-liter turbo-4 making 277 hp and 311 lb-ft of torque; an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic sends power to the front or available all-wheel drive. The towing capacity is 3,500 pounds.

Hybrid models have a 1.6-liter turbo-4 hybrid powertrain with an estimated output of 232 hp and 271 lb-ft. A 6-speed automatic transmission comes with front-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive.

Both of these powertrains largely carry over from the fourth-generation Santa Fe. Hyundai tweaked them to improve cooling and friction efficiencies to meet more stringent particulate emissions regulations. The EPA has not certified the fuel economy of either model. Changes to the design and underbody lowered the coefficient of drag, and Hyundai said its work with electric vehicle development helped lower emissions overall, but it has not disclosed by how much.

Every Santa Fe comes standard with automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, active lane control, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitors, and automatic high-beam headlights.
