The redesigned 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class arrives in the new year with a new platform, standard all-wheel drive, a mild-hybrid system supplementing revised engines, and a thorough tech overhaul. All those upgrades cost money, too, and the starting point of the 2024 E-Class increases $5,500 over the 2023 Mercedes-Benz E-Class, the brand disclosed Tuesday.
The E 350 4Matic sedan in base Premium trim costs $63,450, including a $1,150 destination fee. That’s a $5,500 price increase from the 2023 E-Class, but that was for the rear-wheel-drive model. A 2023 E 350 4Matic with all-wheel drive cost $60,400, so the price increase for a similarly equipped drivetrain is $3,050.
The new platform opens up more space in the E-Class sedan’s cabin. Mercedes has spun off coupe and convertible versions into a new model, the CLE-Class, that splits the difference between the C-Class and E-Class but is sized like the E-Class. The 2024 E-Class will still be offered in a forthcoming All-Terrain wagon model.

For now, Mercedes has announced pricing on the E 350 4Matic and E 450 4Matic models. Both engines pair with a 48-volt internal starter-generator, or mild-hybrid system, that provides power off the line and takes the electrical load off the engine. A 9-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive are standard, as are adaptive dampers.
The $63,450 E 350 4Matic has a 2.0-liter turbo-4 making 255 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. Engine specs may sound the same as its predecessor, but Mercedes says the mild-hybrid system and a new catalytic converter make it new.
The 2024 E 450 4Matic costs $69,250 and has a 3.0-liter turbo-6 generating 375 hp and 369 lb-ft. Mercedes modified the crankshaft, cylinder heads, and air intake system for better compression, while the exhaust system has also been modified to reduce emissions. A plug-in hybrid powertrain will not come to North American markets. Fuel economy estimates have not been certified by the EPA yet.
Wider by 1.3 inches and with a 0.9-inch longer wheelbase, the redesigned E-Class sedan embraces more aerodynamic proportions and features a curving roofline and flush door handles. The broader proportions expand the trunk space nearly six feet to 19.0 cubic feet.

Styling from its EQ class of electric vehicles carries over inside, with a new take on the brand’s Hyperscreen wall of dashboard screens. A standard 12.8-inch digital instrument cluster abuts a 14.4-inch touchscreen with a horizontal orientation, while opting for the available Superscreen adds a 12.3-inch passenger screen. The one pane of glass covering the cluster, touchscreen, and passenger screen limits the gorgeous wood and metallic trim to the door panels and console.
The standard E 350 4Matic rides on 18-inch alloy wheels and comes with LED headlights, an AMG exterior styling package, a panoramic sunroof, a wireless smartphone charger, ambient lighting, and a digital key. Standard safety features include adaptive headlights and a surround-view camera system, though Mercedes didn’t disclose if automatic emergency braking and other driver-assist tech comes standard.
For $2,550 more, to $69,250 on the E 350 4Matic, the Pinnacle trim adds an illuminated grille, heat- and noise-insulating glass, and a head-up display. On the E 450 4Matic, the Pinnacle only adds $1,550 more to $71,800.
Options include rear-wheel steering and an air suspension, but Mercedes didn’t disclose the price.
The 2024 E-Class goes on sale this quarter.
