This week, The Car Connection announced the nine finalists for its Best Car To Buy 2024 award that narrows down the best of every new, redesigned, or significantly refreshed vehicle to help shoppers simplify the car shopping process. We also ran the dozen that missed the cut for not moving the automotive industry forward enough, or for not standing out in any category we assess, such as value, safety, style, powertrain, and other considerations. The reality is that of the 265 car models on sale now, there aren’t many bad ones. But only a handful can be considered the best.
Also this week, we completed most of our 2024 model year testing and finalized some reviews with new safety ratings or pricing announcements. We wrap those up below.
The iconic hybrid redesigned last year has never been this stylish or capable, which helps it post a TCC Rating of 7.0 out of 10.
Redesigned for 2023 like the Prius, the Accord hybrid midsize sedan has fewer emissions and a better infotainment interface, but keeps its strong value and engaging handling for a TCC Rating of 7.0 out of 10.
Big and reasonably stylish for a three-row crossover SUV, the 2024 Pilot stumbles on below average fuel economy and some quirky tech that cap its TCC Rating of 6.8 out of 10.
The refreshed pickup truck earns a TCC Rating of 6.7 out of 10 due to its latest features and improved fuel economy ratings.
The refreshed three-row crossover sports new ends, a new infotainment system, and a new X-Pro grade. Changes to the hybrids arrive in 2025. Gas models are a 6.4 out of 10.
The redesigned small crossover with standard all-wheel drive but no hybrid option gets more refined and remains a safety-loaded value, earning a TCC Rating of 5.8 out of 10.
