2024 Toyota RAV4, Kia Forte top this week’s new car reviews

The news is in and it’s not news at all: new cars keep getting more expensive. It seems as if automakers keep raising the price on 2024 models, independent of inflationary trends. At the same time, automakers keep chopping low-volume and low-margin entry-level models from the lineup, such as on the 2024 Toyota Highlander. There’s still plenty of three-row crossover SUVs to go around, from Toyota and everyone else.

We tracked prices and made tracks in the following vehicles this week.

The Genesis Electrified GV70 has the strengths of the gas model with EV efficiency.

2024 Cadillac Escalade review

Old-school only in its sheer size, the latest Escalade is a modern SUV that impresses with its refinement and tech. It’s terribly thirsty, too, so those looking to save fuel will want to wait for the all-electric 2025 Escalade IQ. For now, it’s a 6.8 out of 10.

2024 Infiniti QX60 review

The QX60 is a three-row crossover SUV with a high-zoot interior, strong V-6 power, and an impressive suite of safety tech. It’s a 6.7 out of 10.

2024 Toyota RAV4 review

The do-it-all Toyota RAV4 pairs racy lines with great fuel economy in hybrid form. The bestselling crossover earns a 6.5 out of 10.

2024 Kia Forte review

The Kia Forte combines great space with good value, but its sluggish powertrain lowers its TCC Rating to 5.8 out of 10.

2024 Jeep Compass review

Powerful and reasonably well-equipped, the 2024 Jeep Compass is let down by its sky-high price tag. That’s one reason its TCC Rating sinks to 5.8 out of 10.

2024 Chevrolet Colorado review

Powerful, well equipped, and boasting plenty of tech, the 2024 Colorado makes a strong case for itself among midsize pickup trucks. It’s a 5.6 out of 10.
