2024 Volkswagen Tiguan Wolfsburg Edition aims for value

A redesigned Volkswagen Tiguan crossover arrives for the 2025 model year, but in the meantime VW is adding a Wolfsburg Edition model to the lineup to maintain customer interest in the current-generation model.

Named after the automaker’s home city, the 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan Wolfsburg Edition is based on the Tiguan SE grade, but gets some more upscale design features like model-specific 18-inch wheels. Wolfsburg badging, silver mirror caps and front bumper accents, black window trim, and chrome door and bumper inserts round out the exterior changes.

The Wolfsburg Edition is available only in Atlantic Blue, Deep Black Pearl, Platinum Grey, and Pure White, with black leatherette upholstery and orange contrast stitching inside. The Wolfsburg Edition also borrows illuminated scuff plates, and interior ambient lighting from the Tiguan R-Line models.

Standard features from the Tiguan SE carry over, including an 8.0-inch touchscreen, 8.0-inch digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity, a power tailgate, and auto-dimming rearview mirror. For 2024, all Tiguan models added VW’s IQ.DRIVE driver-assistance package as standard equipment. This includes features like adaptive cruise control and active lane control.

Like other Tiguan models, the Wolfsburg Edition is powered by a 2.0-liter turbo-4 that produces 184 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque. Front-wheel drive comes standard, with all-wheel drive optional, and an 8-speed automatic transmission in either case.

The Wolfsburg Edition costs $30,995 with front-wheel drive and $32,495 with all-wheel drive, meaning it’s priced a bit lower than the SE grade on which it’s based. That may give shoppers already considering a Tiguan a reason to head to the local VW dealer now rather than waiting for the redesigned version, which is expected to appear later this year as a 2025 model. This yet-to-be revealed model will differ from the global Tiguan unveiled last year.
