2025 Lucid Gravity SUV launches with 440 miles, $94,900 tag

• The three-row electric SUV will be sold in top Grand Touring trim to start
• A $79,900 Touring model goes into production late in 2025, and would qualify for the $7,500 EV tax credit
• Gravity Grand Touring has an estimated 800 hp and 440 miles of range

The 2025 Lucid Gravity electric SUV will have a $94,900 price tag when ordering opens on Nov. 7, 2024, the American automaker announced on Tuesday.

The Gravity launches with the range-topping Grand Touring trim, which has an estimated 800 horsepower and 440 miles of range. Details remain slim for now, but expect the Gravity Grand Touring to arrive with dual-motor all-wheel drive and a 112-kwh battery pack, similar to the Lucid Air luxury sedan. Lucid estimates a 0-60 mph time of 3.5 seconds, or it can tow up to 6,000 pounds. 

It will be followed late in 2025 with the 2026 Gravity Touring model for $79,900 that would qualify for the $7,500 federal EV tax credit, pending the upcoming election cycle. Lucid has not revealed if there will be a lower cost Pure trim to arrive later than the Touring, as was the case with the Lucid Air.

The 2025 Air Pure achieves an estimated 5.0 miles per kwh, making it the most efficient production car sold today. 

The prototype Gravity SUV boasted a low 0.24 coefficient of drag, despite housing three rows of seats. The production version will be made alongside the Lucid Air in Casa Grande, Arizona, but the three-row SUV rides on a different platform with a 900-volt architecture. That should enable some of the fastest DC charging on the EV market, with an estimated 200 miles of range gained in 15 minutes. Lucid didn’t say the peak charge rate, but expect it to be in the range of 305 kw as in the Lucid Air.  

The Gravity three-row crossover SUV may end up the more popular offering in Lucid’s nascent lineup, and one that helps the brand ramp up to profitability. In Q2, Lucid reported a loss of $790 million, despite selling a record 2,394 Lucid Air sedans in that period, according to Automotive News. Shortly thereafter, it received a $1.5 billion cash injection from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, which is the Silicon Valley automaker’s largest shareholder. 

Lucid expects the Gravity to not just offset the steep development costs of launching a new brand and new product line, but to lead the brand to profitability. Yet the arrival of the Gravity comes with many more existing three-row electric rivals, including the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV and the Rivian R1S.

The Gravity comes up slightly shorter than the Rivian R1S that extends to 200.8 inches. At 198 inches long, the Lucid Gravity measures slightly longer than the Kia EV9 at 197.2 inches, and it’s about the same as the Tesla Model X. Lucid CEO Peter Rawlinson was the chief engineer of the Tesla Model S full-size sedan before becoming Lucid’s chief technology officer in 2013. 

The three-row electric vehicle segment continues to grow, and the 2025 Volkswagen ID.Buzz minivan and Kia EV9 present less expensive options than the Gravity, for now.
