The 2025 Mazda CX-5 compact crossover will have a base price of $29,990 when it reaches U.S. dealerships later this summer, Mazda confirmed Tuesday in a press release.
The starting price is $685 lower than the 2024 model, which saw a $2,600 price hike from 2023 due to the deletion of the CX-5 S base trim from the lineup. The CX-5 S is back for 2025, but it hasn’t fully undone that price increase. The destination fee is also $45 higher, at $1,420.
Aside from the return of the CX-5 S base model, Mazda made some equipment changes to individual trim levels and removed the S Premium grade. That leaves S Select, S Preferred, S Carbon Edition, S Premium Plus, Carbon Turbo, Turbo Premium, and Turbo Signature trim levels.
2025 Mazda CX-5
Unlike the 2025 Mazda CX-50, which gets a new Toyota-sourced hybrid powertrain, the CX-5’s powertrains carry over for the new model year. A naturally-aspirated 2.5-liter line-4 making 187 hp and 186 lb-ft of torque is standard equipment while an optional 2.5-liter turbo-4 producing 227 hp and 310 lb-ft (256 hp and 320 lb-ft with 93 octane fuel). All-wheel drive and a 6-speed automatic transmission are standard with both engines.
Fuel economy is expected to be unchanged at a maximum 28 mpg combined (26 mpg city, 30 mpg highway) for non-turbo models, which feature an engine stop/start system and cylinder deactivation.
Standard driver-assist features include blind-spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keep assist.
Standard convenience features include a 10.25-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a four-speaker audio system, dual front USB-C ports, and reclining rear seats. Cloth upholstery is standard on the base CX-5 S.

The $31,320 S Select costs $645 more than 2024 the equivalent 2024 model, and adds auto-leveling headlights, synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats and a power-adjustable driver’s seat, 6-speaker audio, and vents and dual USB-A ports for rear-seat passengers.
The $32,670 S Preferred (also $645 more than 2024) adds a moonroof, power lift gate, leather upholstery, auto-dimming rearview mirrors, a power-adjustable front passenger’s seat, and a driver’s-side memory system.
The $34,020 S Carbon Edition ($495 more than last year’s model) features styling enhancements like a Polymetal Gray paint option, 19-inch black alloy wheels, and the option of black leather upholstery with red stitching or red leather. It also includes a 10-speaker audio system, and adds wireless phone charging for 2025.
The $36,620 S Premium Plus costs $1,255 less than last year’s model, but remains the highest trim level with the naturally-aspirated engine. For 2025, it adds a 360-degree camera system and front and rear parking sensors alongside a drive-mode selector, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel and exterior mirrors, and built-in navigation.

All turbo models costs the same as equivalent 2024 models minus this year’s higher destination charge, meaning the Carbon Turbo starts at $38,420. It features terracotta leather upholstery with black synthetic suede inserts and terracotta sitting, and is available only in Zircon Sand Metallic and Rhodium White paint colors.
The Turbo Premium costs $39,220, and adds traffic jam assist to the features from the S Premium Plus model.
The $42,020 Turbo Signature adds shiny exterior trim on the outside, with nappa leather and ambient lighting on the inside.
