2025 Toyota Grand Highlander expands lineup, costs $42,310

The 3-row 2025 Toyota Grand Highlander lineup expands with two new models, while keeping price increases mostly in check, Toyota revealed Monday.

The Grand Highlander LE is the new base model, slotting in below the XLE at $42,310 with the mandatory $1,450 destination fee. The XLE costs $45,080, or just $615 more than the equivalent 2024 model. Limited and Platinum models are positioned above the XLE at $49,810 and $55,495, respectively.

These models all come standard with a 2.4-liter turbo-4 rated at 265 hp and connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission, with front-wheel drive in most cases. All-wheel drive is a $1,600 option on the LE, XLE, and Limited grades, but standard on the Platinum.

The larger Grand Highlander slots above the Toyota Highlander in both space, size, and features. 

2025 Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid price

An optional hybrid powertrain is available on LE, XLE, and Limited models, with the latter also serving as the basis for a Nightshade Edition new for 2025. This adds blacked-out exterior trim and 20-inch wheels, much like Toyota’s other Nightshade Editions, but with the same mechanical package as other hybrid models. That means a 2.5-liter inline-4 connected to Toyota’s familiar planetary hybrid system for 245 hp and up to 36 mpg combined.

Hybrid pricing starts at $45,660 for the LE. XLE and Limited models start at $46,830 and $53,160, respectively, with the Nightshade Edition commanding a $900 premium over the Limited.

Toyota also continues to offer a more powerful Hybrid Max powertrain in combination with the Limited ($56,140) and Platinum ($60,225) grades. This uses the non-hybrid model’s turbo-4 with a different hybrid system, which appears similar to the one used in the Toyota Crown Max that integrates an electric motor with a 6-speed automatic transmission. A second motor powers the rear axle for all-wheel drive.

Total system output for the Hybrid Max is a generous 362 hp, which enables a Toyota-estimated 0-60 mph time of 6.3 seconds and a 5,000-pound towing capacity. However, EPA fuel economy sinks to 27 mpg combined.

Toyota expects XLE, Limited, Platinum, and Nightshade models to arrive at dealerships by December 2024, with LE models following in the first half of 2025.
