India head coach Rahul Dravid said that Rahul is still not ready to play competitive cricket.
Rahul will be available for selection from the Super 4 stage if India qualifies.
Rahul's absence is a big blow to India's chances in the Asia Cup.
India will now have to rely on other openers like Ishan Kishan and Ruturaj Gaikwad to get them off to a good start.
The Asia Cup 2023 is scheduled to be played in Sri Lanka from August 27 to September 11.
India are the defending champions of the Asia Cup.
The other teams participating in the Asia Cup are Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and the United Arab Emirates.
