Acura RSX returning as electric crossover

  • Acura’s second EV will be the RSX crossover
  • It enters production in late 2025 at the Honda EV Hub plant in Ohio
  • It will share a platform with Honda’s 0 Series EVs, which will also be built in Ohio

Acura will revive its RSX nameplate later this year for an electric crossover, the automaker has confirmed.

The original RSX, badged as a Honda Integra outside the U.S., was a sporty coupe sold in the early 2000s. In a statement released on Jan. 15, Acura said the modern vehicle will stay true to the nameplate by offering a coupe-like profile and a fun-to-drive experience behind the wheel.

A teaser photo of a camouflaged prototype, released together with the statement, shows a high-riding vehicle with four doors, a liftback tailgate, and door handles flush with the body. Acura said the styling was previewed by last year’s Performance EV concept car.

Production will be handled at the Honda EV Hub plant in Marysville, Ohio, starting in late 2025, meaning we’ll likely see the new RSX arrive as a 2026 model in the U.S. Prototype testing on public roads commences this week.

The vehicle will be the first based on a new EV platform developed in-house at Honda. This contrasts with Acura’s debut EV, the ZDX, which relies on General Motors for its platform and production site.

The new platform, which will run Honda’s own ASIMO OS software, will also underpin Honda’s 0 SUV and 0 Saloon models, which were previewed earlier this month at the 2025 CES event in Las Vegas. The new 0 Series models will start production at the Marysville plant in 2026.

Honda has said it leveraged its Formula 1 experience—most recently supplying power units to the championship-winning Red Bull Racing team—to help ensure its platform remains thin and lightweight. The automaker has hinted at a weight reduction of around 220 pounds compared to its earlier EV platforms. This should bode well for performance vehicles based on the platform, including potentially a new Acura NSX supercar.

Acura, on Jan. 15, also said its new ADX compact crossover will start sales this spring and will be joined later in the year by an updated Integra compact hatchback boasting exterior and interior tweaks.
