Airbus partners with SIDBI to support helicopter financing in India, ET TravelWorld


Airbus and SIDBI joined forces to make buying Airbus helicopters easier for Indian civil operators. SIDBI will provide financing while Airbus offers industry expertise. The MoU was signed by Rahul Priyadarshi, Chief General Manager SIDBI and Sunny Guglani, Head of Airbus Helicopters, India and South Asia. This collaboration marks a significant foray of SIDBI into helicopter financing and meeting the financial and development needs of India’s fast-growing rotary wing sector.

“Our agreement with SIDBI makes it easier for Indian companies to buy our civil helicopters. This will make these helicopters even more important for India’s development. By combining our great helicopters and industry knowledge with SIDBI’s affordable financing, we can significantly grow India’s civil helicopter market,” Sunny Guglani Head of Airbus Helicopters, India and South Asia.

Initiated in April and running through May, the program targets 150 homestay owners, providing them with essential training in hospitality management and sustainable practices. The curriculum combines classroom learning with practical sessions and culminates in a certification from EaseMyTrip, Small Industries Development Bank of India, and the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board.

“This a new area for financing to helicopter operators by SIDBI and is expected to open new avenues for financing MSMEs related to this segment,” Rahul Priyadarshi, Chief General Manager, SIDBI.The MoU is a significant development for India’s fast-growing rotary-wing sector. By facilitating easier access to financing, this collaboration is poised to fuel the expansion of the civil helicopter market and unlock its potential for various applications, including emergency medical services, infrastructure development and tourism.

Small Industries Development Bank of India was established under an Act of the Parliament in 1990. SIDBI is mandated to serve as the Principal Financial Institution for executing the triple agenda of promotion, financing and development of the MSME sector and coordination of the functions of the various institutions engaged in similar activities.
