Akasa Air

Akasa Air has launched daily direct flights connecting Abu Dhabi with Bengaluru and Ahmedabad, under a codeshare agreement with Etihad Airways. This new service strengthens travel links between India and the UAE, with flights departing Bengaluru and Ahmedabad on 1st and 2nd March 2025 respectively.

The maiden flight from Bengaluru left Kempegowda International Airport at 10:00 IST on 1st March, arriving at Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi at 12:35 AST. Similarly, the first flight from Ahmedabad took off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at 22:45 IST on 1st March, arriving in Abu Dhabi at 01:00 AST on 2nd March.

This new route adds to Akasa Air’s existing daily service between Mumbai and Abu Dhabi, launched in July 2024. The addition of Bengaluru and Ahmedabad brings the total number of weekly flights between India and Abu Dhabi to 21, further boosting Akasa Air’s international connectivity. This also marks the airline’s first international route from Bengaluru and a significant expansion from Ahmedabad.

A ceremonial event to mark the launch was held at Kempegowda International Airport, where Akasa Air’s Executive Committee lit a lamp to symbolise the occasion. A special boarding pass was also presented to the first passenger of the inaugural Bengaluru-Abu Dhabi flight.

Neelu Khatri, Co-Founder and SVP International at Akasa Air, commented, “We are thrilled to launch this new international route with Etihad Airways, enhancing our presence in the UAE, one of the world’s key aviation markets. This partnership opens up new travel opportunities, facilitating tourism, trade, and cultural exchanges between India and the UAE. We are excited to offer passengers seamless connectivity with both airlines, ensuring accessibility, convenience, and top-notch service.”

She added, “This launch marks a significant milestone in Akasa’s global expansion and further enriches our international network from both Bengaluru and Ahmedabad.”

The new routes will also provide passengers with Akasa Air’s renowned onboard services, such as comfortable seating, USB ports, and an array of gourmet meal options through Café Akasa. With its customer-centric approach, the airline aims to offer a comfortable and inclusive travel experience.
