Any ‘conspiracy’ to cause train accidents will not continue for long: Amit Shah | India News

NEW DELHI: Union home minister Amit Shah said on Tuesday that any “conspiracy” against train operations and efforts to cause accidents will not continue for long. He said investigation agencies are probing the reasons behind accidents while adding that CBI, NIA, railway police and home ministry are working together to prepare the roadmap for protection of railway assets.
Responding to a question on the trend of train accidents and some suspected design behind them, Shah said, “As far as accidents are concerned, we will investigate the root cause of this.Whatever the reason, the govt is committed to addressing the issue. Hadse agar sadhyantra hai toh bahut der nahin chalega (If this is a conspiracy, it will not continue for long). If there are gaps, they will be plugged.”
There have been over two dozen cases when foreign items were found on rail tracks and there were efforts to damage rail assets as well.
Sources said some of the specific areas where such attempts are being made have been identified and there is more vigil on these stretches. For example, there have been around five such incidents around Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, a source said.
Earlier speaking to reporters after releasing the report card of the first 100 days of NDA government. Shah said he had discussion with railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and a roadmap for safety of railway assets and train operation has been prepared. “We have taken a strong view of the recent incidents and will come out with a comprehensive security scheme to protect the railway infrastructure from sabotage,” he said.
Congress had claimed that there were 38 railway accidents within government’s first 100 days and has accused Vaishnaw of dismissing them as ‘minor incidents’.
