Aston Martin Valkyrie production ends in 2024

  • Aston Martin’s Adrian Newey-designed Valkyrie hypercar ends production in 2024
  • A total of 275 units will have been built, including coupe, convertible, and track-only versions
  • A regular Valkyrie recently set the production car lap record at the U.K.’s Silverstone Circuit

Three years after it built its first customer Valkyrie, Aston Martin has confirmed that production of the V-12 hypercar will soon reach an end.

In a statement to Motor Authority, Aston Martin spokesperson Morgan Theys said the final Valkyrie will be built before the end of 2024.

When all is said and done, Aston Martin will have built 150 examples of the Valkyrie coupe, an additional 85 examples of the Valkyrie Spider, and 40 examples of the track-only Valkyrie AMR Pro.

Production of the cars is handled at Aston Martin’s headquarters in Gaydon, U.K.

All versions are powered by a 6.5-liter V-12 paired with a mild-hybrid system that can provide an electric boost. The combined output for the car is 1,139 hp, or enough for 0-60 mph acceleration in under 2.5 seconds. A Valkyrie was also recently clocked lapping the U.K.’s Silverstone Circuit in a time of 1:56.42. That’s a record for a production car at the racetrack, and also the first time set by a production car under two minutes. The time is faster than what some GT3 race cars have put down. It also smashed the previous record of 2:06.82, set by the Manthey-enhanced Porsche 911 GT2 RS MR.

Among the owners are Formula 1 world champions Max Verstappen and Fernando Alonso, as well as Red Bull Racing star aerodynamicist Adrian Newey. The Valkyrie was designed by Newey when Aston Martin still had a technical partnership with Red Bull. Newey will soon be working for Aston Martin, as he will join its F1 team in 2025, and with any luck he’ll eventually pen a successor model.

While production is almost over the regular Valkyrie, Aston Martin is also developing a Valkyrie race car built to meet Le Mans Hypercar rules. To be known as the Valkyrie AMR-LMH, multiple examples of the race car will be entered in the IMSA SportsCar Championship and FIA World Endurance Championship next year. The cars will be fielded by the new team Aston Martin Thor, a partnership between Aston Martin and America’s Heart of Racing.
