Tapas are basically appetizers. If you have already filled yourself with other goods and are in search of a small meal, just go with tapas. They may be served cold or hot, you can combine them to your preferance while sipping your booze. Eager to eat the best of Barcelona? Just pay a visit to 7 Portes or Cerveceria Catalana. They are both very good.
If you happen to tour Europe, you will find many candy stores in many cities. There are lots of them in Barcelona, too. But if you are crazy about jelly tots, two places will make you feel like you are in heaven: La Boqueria and Happy Pills. In La Boqueria, you will find an extreme range of jelly tots. You can grab a bag of them and snack while walking around the town. For something more memorable, go visit Happy Pills, a jelly store that sells jelly in medicine bottles. You choose a sticker after filling the bottle with the jellies and voila! A great souvenir from Barcelona!
When you visit the city, you will walk by the Columbus Monument that points out the sea. Like many other harbor cities in the world, it is true that Barcelona is a good place to eat seafood. La Paradeta is a restaurant where you can actually choose what you want to eat from the shelves. They weigh you selection and you pay what you eat. They mainly serve shellfish but you can also find some kinds of fish. The prices are quite affordable.
This is the last but not the least recommendation for your visit. Facturas are the real sweet escape. These danish-like pastries are not Spanish, they are from Argentina and to my opinion they are way better than danish. It is not very common to encounter these goodies outside of American continent. So if you want to give it a try, you should visit Mendieta Patisserie which is very close to Clot Subway station.
