Bugatti Took Its Best Hypercars Ice Drifting. It’s Pure Cinema

  • The ICE at St. Moritz is essentially Pebble Beach Car Week, but in snow-covered Switzerland.
  • Bugatti showcased its model history, from the legendary Type 35 to the wild Bolide.
  • Hypercars driving on ice look pretty great on camera.

The cold can’t stop a Bugatti owner from enjoying their amazing machine. The annual ICE at St. Moritz proves to be the perfect playground for these hypercars, as evidenced by the video below.

Bugatti brought out a handful of machines that celebrate its lineage, both classic and current. From a scaled-down Type 35 and what looks to be a gorgeous Type 51, on up to a trio of ballistic Bolide hyper-exotics, the range of cars looked resplendent on the ice and snow-covered course.

Anytime you find this many Bugatti models in one place, it’s safe to assume this is a special occasion. I think what’s most impressive, however, is the amount of traction the drivers found in these conditions.

Yes, the Veyrons and Bolides have all-wheel drive. But that’s a whole lot of power being put down to a rather slippery and cold surface. I’m curious whether someone makes snow tires for these cars. And, if so, I’m also quite curious what a set of those would run.

Which car was the coolest car out there (no pun intended)? My vote goes for the person driving the EB110. While it’s down on power compared to the wicked machines around it, that car is quite indicative of its era and remains a major milestone on the timeline of all things supercar.

The actual coolest people out there are the people in the vintage open wheelers, of course.

Motor1’s Take: Watching high-dollar, high-horsepower machinery drifting across a snowy landscape is a sight to behold. We applaud any such super and hypercar owners willing to fully enjoy the capabilities of their cars.
