The Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has announced the launch of the Self-Service Bag Drop (SSBD) Quick Drop Solution at Delhi Airport. This makes Delhi Airport the first in India and the second in the world, following Toronto, Canada, to implement this innovative technology.
With 50 SSBD units now operational across Terminal 1 and Terminal 3, passengers can experience a streamlined and efficient baggage drop process. This initiative aims to significantly reduce wait times and enhance the overall passenger experience.
The conventional SSBD units allow travelers to bypass check-in desks by printing their boarding passes and baggage tags at Common Use Self Service kiosks. Passengers then scan their boarding passes or use biometric cameras at the SSBD unit to drop their bags on the conveyor belt, a process that typically takes about a minute.
DIAL has further enhanced this process with the introduction of the Quick Drop Solution, which eliminates the need for boarding pass or biometric validation. This innovation reduces the processing time to just 30 seconds, making the check-in experience even more efficient.
Videh Kumar Jaipuriar, CEO, DIAL expressed his enthusiasm about the new service, “We are thrilled to introduce the Self-Service Bag Drop Quick Drop Solution at Delhi Airport, setting a new standard for passenger convenience and efficiency in India. This initiative underscores our commitment to leveraging advanced technology to enhance the travel experience. The Quick Drop Solution not only speeds up the baggage drop process but also ensures a smoother, more enjoyable journey for our passengers. We are proud to be pioneers in this space and look forward to continuing to innovate in ways that benefit travelers.”
Currently, the Quick Drop Solution is available for passengers traveling with Air India, IndiGo, and Air India Express.
