Dodge is going all-in on being Stellantis’ performance brand. The automaker has announced that it’ll make the V-8 engine the standard powertrain across the Durango lineup for 2026.
The entry-level Durango GT will now feature the brand’s 5.7-liter V-8 engine, which produces 360 horsepower, 65 more than the Pentastar V-6 it replaces. The extra cylinders do come at a cost, with the 2026 Durango GT starting at $44,490, $4,000 more than before.

The R/T gets a powertrain upgrade, with Dodge swapping the 5.7-liter V-8 for the 6.4-liter V-8 392. It makes 470 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque, 115 hp more than the outgoing engine. Dodge didn’t provide a specific starting price for the R/T, instead stating that it will start at “under $50,000.” The 2025 R/T, equipped with the old 5.7-liter V-8, started at $49,995 before the $1,995 destination charge, and we expect a similar price tag for the updated 2026 version.
Dodge already detailed the 2026 SRT Hellcat, which will have a revamped Jailbreak trim. It offers buyers more customization options, including six wheel choices, five interior colors, and more. It packs Dodge’s supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 producing 710 horsepower and 645 pound-feet of torque. While the entry price for the Durango lineup will increase, the SRT Hellcat is $6,000 cheaper for 2026.
It now starts at $81,990, so thank you, Dodge.
The brand says that order books will open for the 2026 Durango GT and SRT Hellcat on August 13. Those trims will begin arriving at dealers sometime in the fourth quarter. Dodge will start taking orders for the R/T AWD beginning later this year.
