Evoluto Ferrari 355: V8 Engine Sound

• Evoluto Automobili’s Ferrari 355 restomod is nearing production.

Nearly two years ago, restoration and modernization specialist Evoluto Automobili announced it would enhance the Ferrari 355. That meant upgrading the Ferrari’s original naturally aspirated, 3.5-liter flat-plane crank V8 engine. Now, there’s a new video finally capturing the car’s glorious exhaust note.  

The clip is only 19 seconds long, but the prototype sounds amazing. The reworked engine has over 200 new and redesigned components, including larger inlet valves, solid cam lifters, bespoke tuning, and more. The 355 originally made 375 horsepower, and Evoluto’s car makes 420, which is a modest increase.

Evoluto also reworked the six-speed manual transmission, while six-piston front and four-piston rear Brembo brakes provide stopping power for the Ferrari. The builder also upgraded the chassis, increasing torsional rigidity by 23 percent.  

The company’s YouTube video reveals that the 355 program is nearly production-ready. Evoluto plans to build just 50 examples, and the company revealed in September 2024 that it was “oversubscribed for the program” and directed interested buyers to a waiting list. Starting price is £695,000 ($936,415 at today’s exchange rate).

Motor1’s Take: Ferrari’s 3.5-liter flat-plane crank V8 engine already sounds stellar, and somehow Evoluto makes it sound even better. The car is proof that a restomod can enhance an old classic like the 355 without going overboard.
