Genesis Magma GT Concept Teases a Future Halo Car

It’s been a decade since Genesis arrived as a standalone brand. The lineup has grown since its inception, and just last year Genesis launched its performance sub-brand called Magma. Now, we have a preview of what a Magma-defined future of Genesis could look like, and it starts with the new Magma GT Concept that debuted in France today.

The automaker says the car “defines the direction of the brand’s performance heritage” for the next decade. The concept also aligns with the roadmap Genesis announced in September, which laid out the brand’s product vision and included a “Magma Halo” vehicle as it transitions to a luxury high-performance lineup.

Genesis has made its racing ambitions clear, and the car “hints” at the brand’s interest in entering the GT category. Genesis has already announced plans to enter the IMSA SportsCar Championship in 2027.

Powertrain details remain a mystery, but the automaker said the car doesn’t “focus solely on speed.” Instead, the Magma GT is “a blend of refined luxury and true motorsport character.”

The car has a low front hood, a sloping roofline, and wide rear fenders, and it looks like a proper supercar, like something Koenigsegg would build. It wears the brand’s twin-line lighting design, front and rear, with the front featuring integrated canards. The rear has an illuminated Genesis branding sandwiched between twin light bars.

The car has optimized aerodynamics, a boat-tail cabin, and butterfly doors. Luc Donckerwolke, Genesis’ chief creative officer, called the car “the pinnacle of our performance vision and stands as a symbol of our commitment to true motorsport capability.”

The Magma GT is a design manifesto and “strategic beacon for the brand,” which encapsulates what Genesis aims to achieve as it enters the motorsport arena and looks to expand its high-performance portfolio.” The car will guide the brand’s performance identity, and we’re excited to see what that entails.

For being a “concept,” the Magma GT looks ready for production.
