Through mid-March, General Motors has already issued eight recalls, giving GM the second-highest number of recalls behind Ford Motor Company. That said, GM’s total number of cars recalled is far less than Ford’s 7.4 million—only 80,005 GM vehicles have been affected.
GM’s largest recall so far in 2026 affected 43,743 vehicles, while its smallest involved just 20. GM used to hold the record for the most recalls ever issued in a single year—77 in 2014—but Ford took that title in 2025 with 153. The Detroit automaker isn’t on track to get close to that this year, thankfully.
The oldest model GM has recalled so far this year is the 2012-2013 Buick Regal, which may have been built with rear toe links that lack proper electrocoating. The automaker also issued a recall that affected nearly every model—from the 2025 Chevrolet Colorado to the 2027 Bolt —because they are missing the owner’s manual, but it affected just 5,482 vehicles.
Below are the eight recalls GM has issued so far this year (as of March 20, 2026).
