‘High School Musical 3’ Turns 15: Relive the Best Moments With the ‘HSMTMTS’ Cast (Exclusive)

The High School Musical: The Musical: The Series cast is taking a look back at the trilogy that started it all!

Oct. 24 marks the 15-year anniversary of High School Musical 3, and in ET’s exclusive featurette, the HSMTMTS cast celebrates their memories of watching the final film in the trilogy — the franchise bow for stars Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Corbin Bleu, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel and more — when they were young, up-and-coming performers in their own right.

“I won tickets [to the premiere] from my local outlet mall,” Sofia Wylie reveals in the clip. “And so I got flown out to L.A. with my whole family. I do remember just thinking, ‘This is probably gonna be the greatest night of my life forever.’ And now I’m here, and I would definitely say I’ve had many more wonderful nights.”

Dara Reneé and Frankie Rodriguez recall going all out to see HSM 3 in theaters with friends.

“I picked my hair out to look like Corbin, had a little bow tie for Taylor,” Reneé shares. “I had on [fake] glasses… for Kelsey, and I had my little skirt for Gabriella. I literally was like, I’m gonna be a mashup of every single character.”

As for their favorite songs, many of the cast members praise the high production values of the graduation finale song, “High School Musical,” while Matt Cornett recalls the Efron solo number, “Scream,” Adrian Lyles remembers “The Boys Are Back,” and Julia Lester and Joe Serafini both point to “I Want It All” as a favorite.

“It’s all about theater and New York,” Lester shares of the Sharpay-Ryan duet from Tisdale and Grabeel, “and that was a huge dream of mine as a kid.”

As for Joshua Bassett, the romantic in him comes out when he admits to loving Troy and Gabriella’s “Can I Have This Dance?”

“All I think of when I think of High School Musical 3 is the roof scene,” Bassett notes with a laugh. “That is ingrained into my brain for the rest of time.”

HSMTMTS fans actually got a glimpse into the fictional future of the High School Musical characters when OG cast members Bleu, Grabeel, Monique Coleman and KayCee Strong were featured on the Disney+ show’s final season

In one scene, Bleu gave an update on everyone’s characters in the fictional High School Musical 4 movie, saying, “It is our 15-year high school reunion. My character, Chad, is married to Taylor. Martha is a world-class choreographer. Troy and Gabriella are in couples therapy. Ryan is happily partnered, with twins on the way.”

And in the song “High School Reunion,” which was sung by some of the OG stars, Strong quipped of her missing co-stars, “They have been silent in the group chat.”

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is currently streaming on Disney+.
