The latest Grand Theft Auto Online update adds a Kei truck to the game’s vast catalog of vehicles. It is part of Rockstar’s Drift Event that launched earlier this week.
The new Kei truck, which Rockstar named the Shitzu Keitora, is part of a broader upgrade to the game. According to the studio, the Shitzu has “earned its cult following.” It apparently “packs serious power into its diminutive frame” and while “moonlighting as a drifting powerhouse.”
There are also new drift tuning upgrades for certain cars, including the Shitzu, that will let you recreate exciting moments from The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.
The short teaser Rockstar published showed heavily modified vehicles wearing unique liveries, body kits with big wings, and other accessories, such as roof-mounted lights. The launch of the Drift Event also includes a sale on in-game vehicles, weapons, and drift tuning upgrades.
Motor1’s Take: We love Kei trucks, and it’s refreshing to see such a mainstream video game embrace the cult following these bite-sized trucks have carved out for themselves in the United States. Japanese culture and cars are as popular as ever, with the new Forza Horizon set in the Asian country—and we expect to drive an assortment of Kei cars.
