IndiGo Celebrates 19 Years with Launch of New International Routes to London Heathrow, ETTravelWorld

As IndiGo completes 19 years of operations, the airline has announced several international expansion milestones, a new product rollout on key routes, and fresh industry recognition.

Starting 26 October 2025, IndiGo will operate daily, direct flights to London Heathrow using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. The move comes as the airline plans to receive five more Dreamliners this financial year under a damp-lease agreement with Norse Atlantic Airways.

From 9 August, IndiGo’s upgraded business-class product, IndiGoStretch, will be available on Singapore–Delhi and Singapore–Mumbai routes, followed by Dubai–Delhi (30 August) and Dubai–Mumbai (3 September), using two-class A321 aircraft.

The airline was also recently recognised by Skytrax as the Best Airline in India and South Asia, and the Cleanest Airline in the region, reflecting its growing stature beyond the low-cost segment.

Chief Executive Pieter Elbers said, “As we celebrate IndiGo’s 19th anniversary, we are immensely proud of the journey we have had so far and equally excited about the way ahead. Today, we are delighted to announce our next strides in international markets, especially our daily, direct flights to London Heathrow.”

IndiGo has expanded its global network with direct flights from Mumbai to Amsterdam and Manchester, and recently signed MoUs with Delta Air Lines, Air France-KLM, and Virgin Atlantic to improve India–Europe–North America connectivity. The carrier has also broadened codeshare partnerships with Jetstar, KLM, and Japan Airlines.

Domestically, it has added Adampur and Hindon to its network and plans over 18 daily departures from the new Navi Mumbai International Airport. IndiGo has also signed an MoU with BIAL to develop MRO infrastructure to support fleet growth.

With a fleet of over 400 aircraft and an average age of just 4.9 years, IndiGo continues to top India’s aviation sector in terms of on-time performance and operational scale.
