Kelly Clarkson has a message for angry Swifties! The 41-year-old singer and talk show host took to social media over the weekend to set the record straight after comments she made on her self-titled talk show were taken out of context, seemingly implying she was against the widely publicized romance of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.
“Do not fall prey to clickbait, trash reporters twisting the facts again. I did not bash anyone’s romance. I am pro romance,” Clarkson wrote in her “PSA.” “Yay romance. Did y’all even watch what I actually said on my show? I just said I want to watch football when I tune in to watch football. Seems an appropriate request.”
She concluded her message, adding, “Okay, carry on, and GO COWBOYS!”
The comments in question came from Friday’s episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, where Clarkson was interviewing Saturday Night Live star Bowen Yang.
During the interview, Clarkson touched on the show’s spoof on the NFL commentary, which featured Kelce himself.
“That’s hilarious,” she said. “It’s not hilarious how it is literally taking over the NFL for people that like watching sports now. It’s like you’re watching Housewives. They’re just talking about gossip things and you’re like, ‘So what about the play?’ But they’re taking over!”
Clarkson went on to talk about Swift’s impact, saying, “It was everywhere… she’s got such an incredible street team.”
But the GRAMMY winner also praised Swift, saying, “I think we’ve all been a fan of her music. She’s such a great writer.”
Swift once again made headlines on Sunday, attending the home game of the Kansas City Chiefs against the Los Angeles Chargers. She was spotted repping Kelce’s number on a custom friendship bracelet and goofing off with Patrick Mahomes’ wife, Brittany Mahomes, in a private box. Swift and Kelce were later seen leaving the game together.
The “Anti-Hero” singer has now attended several Chiefs games, which has been widely covered during the live broadcast of the games.
