The Lotus Emira delivers pure driving thrills in a stylish package, serving as a charming counterpoint to the outgoing Porsche Cayman. Not as good, yet more interesting at the same time. One way to make it more appealing? Add more power, of course.
That’s exactly what the Australian distributor for Lotus has done with an all-new version of the Emira. Simply Sports Cars has created a low-run Emira built in honor of the iconic Mount Panorama Circuit. According to CarExpert, it’s called the Emira Turbo Bathurst Edition, and it’s a track-day special with more power, more style, and a hefty price tag.
Just 15 examples will be built. Each one features a returned version of the Mercedes-AMG M139 engine used in the Emira Turbo model. This is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that typically delivers around 400 horsepower. The Bathurst Edition sees that figure climb to 503 hp.
Simply Sports Cars ratchets up this track-focused machine by swapping on adjustable dampers, upgraded AP Racing brakes, and more aggressive aero bits. There’s a carbon-fiber front splitter and a large GT4-style rear wing.

Australian Lotus lovers will need to fork out $249,900 AUD (around $176,000 USD) to snag one of these. Each example is individually numbered, and the only real option is a choice of wheel color. Further, if you buy one then’re automatically invited to a Lotus-only track day at Bathurst in 2027.
Sounds like the proper way to really experience what a modified Emira can do. If you’re interested, you’d better hurry up, as the first one is sold—just 14 build slots remain.
Motor1’s Take: The Lotus Emira is a blast to drive with 400 hp. Adding over 100 more horsepower can only mean great things. Couple the power upgrade with the chassis improvements, and the Lotus Emira Turbo Bathurst Edition sounds like one heck of a good time.
