Great news, truck fans: General Motors will reveal a new Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra in 2026. The automaker made the announcement during its fourth-quarter earnings report for 2025.
On page 27 of GM’s presentation, the Detroit automaker wrote: “Chevrolet and GMC will reveal the new Silverado and Sierra this year.” It’s unclear exactly when GM will show its two new pickups, but it could be soon.

General Motors announced last year it would invest $888 million to produce the automaker’s sixth-generation V8 engine that will power its full-size trucks. Production will begin sometime in 2027 and will likely launch in the new pickups.
The 5.3-liter V8 that GM uses in both trucks produces 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, while the larger 6.2-liter makes 420 hp and 460 lb-ft. The supercharged 6.2-liter V8 makes 682 hp and 653 lb-ft in the Cadillac Escalade-V.
GM has promised the new engine will deliver increased power without compromising efficiency. The company is implementing “new combustion and thermal management innovations” to reduce fuel consumption and emissions.
The current-generation Silverado and Sierra first went on sale for 2019, receiving their mid-cycle refreshes for 2022, when the automaker added the ZR2 and AT4X trims to the trucks. In 2021, due to the global chip shortage, GM built some full-size trucks without features like heated and ventilated seats.
Motor1’s Take: General Motors’ full-size pickup is ready for a refresh, and we’re excited about the automaker’s new V8 engine that will likely launch in the next-generation Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. These are important models for the automaker, so we don’t expect any huge surprises in terms of styling, performance, or features.
