Rajasthan Unleashes ₹1.37 Lakh Crore Tourism Investment Surge with 1,600 Projects, ETTravelWorld

Rajasthan is accelerating its push to become one of India’s leading destinations for tourism investments, with more than 1,600 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth ₹1.37 lakh crore now in the pipeline. The state is actively converting investor intent into on-ground implementation through targeted facilitation, inter-departmental coordination, and sustained engagement with stakeholders.

As part of these efforts, a high-level dialogue titled “Rising Rajasthan Tourism Sector MoUs – Accelerating Ground-Breaking Investors’ Dialogue” was held in Jaipur. The meeting brought together 79 MoU holders alongside senior officials from the Departments of Tourism, Urban Development, Revenue, and Local Self Government to address operational bottlenecks and speed up project execution.

The discussions focused on resolving procedural hurdles such as land conversion, building plan approvals, funding access, and policy clarity. Representatives from the Tourism Finance Corporation of India Ltd. (TFCI) were also present to guide investors on financing avenues for hospitality and tourism infrastructure projects.

Rajesh Yadav, Principal Secretary – Tourism, Art & Culture, Archaeology and Chairperson, Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC), reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring timely grounding of projects. “Tourism is not just an economic sector; it’s the growth engine for Rajasthan’s employment and development,” he said, adding that the upcoming Rising Rajasthan Partnership Conclave, scheduled for 11–12 December 2025, will serve as a major platform to showcase investment opportunities in the state’s tourism sector.

Yadav outlined the robust multi-tier monitoring framework in place, with the Chief Minister reviewing progress monthly, the Chief Secretary conducting fortnightly reviews, and weekly reviews led by the Principal Secretary and Commissioner of Tourism. Senior officials have also been assigned specific districts to oversee local-level follow-ups. He further noted that land policies and RTUP-2024 notifications are being finalised in consultation with the Urban Development, Revenue, and Local Self Government departments to streamline land-related procedures.

Tourism Commissioner Rukmani Riar reported that 29 MoU-backed projects are already operational, while another 213 projects worth ₹28,200 crore have reached the ground-breaking stage, collectively generating more than 13,500 jobs. The MoUs span a diverse range of segments including hotels, heritage resorts, wellness retreats, eco-tourism initiatives, and experiential travel offerings.

To ensure momentum, district collectors have been instructed to conduct local MoU review meetings to facilitate faster resolution of issues and smooth project execution.

Pawan Kumar Jain, Additional Director, Tourism, highlighted several policy measures being undertaken to enhance the investment climate. These include the Tourism Unit Policy 2024, offering attractive incentives and streamlined approvals for tourism units, and two upcoming frameworks – the Rajasthan Film Tourism Promotion Policy to position the state as a premier film shooting destination, and the Integrated Tourism Policy focusing on infrastructure development, job creation, and experience-led tourism.

Jain added that Rajasthan is witnessing increasing interest for destination weddings, international events, and film productions, which are adding new dimensions to its tourism economy.

With its combination of policy reform, active investor facilitation, and an execution-focused governance model, Rajasthan is positioning itself as a benchmark for states seeking to unlock the economic potential of tourism.
