Ram recalling 33,777 pickups due to stability control issue

Stellantis is recalling certain 2025 Ram 1500 pickup trucks because they may have damaged components that could disable stability control, which is a key safety system that helps prevent skidding and spinning. Without it, drivers can lose control of vehicles more easily.

The recall includes 33,777 pickups, although Stellantis told the NHTSA that it estimates only 1% have the defect. Said defect is a damaged front wheel bearing encoder ring, which could cause a loss of wheel-speed signal to the stability control system. Wheel speed is one of the parameters measured by stability control to determine if an intervention is needed to prevent a crash.

The affected vehicles were manufactured between Oct. 13, 2023 and Aug. 11, 2024, during which an incorrect parts handling process was used that could have led to the front wheel bearing encoders being damaged prior to vehicle assembly, according to Stellantis.

Dealers will inspect the front wheel bearing hub assembly and replace it if necessary, free of charge. Stellantis will also reimburse owners who may have had this work done at their own cost prior to announcement of the recall. Instructions for reimbursement will be included in owner letters that will be mailed Dec. 19.

Owners can also contact Stellantis customer service at 1-800-853-1403 for more information, or visit the automaker’s recall site here. Stellantis’ reference number for this recall is 97B.

This recall is unrelated to a stability-control-related recall of 1.2 million Ram trucks announced in September. That was due to a software issue in 2021-2024 Ram 1500 pickups. The 2025 model is a significant update, with different styling, new technology features, and a twin-turbo V-6 that replaces the long-serving Hemi V-8.
