Great news: Ram just extended its 10-year/100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty for the 2026 model year. The automaker had planned to discontinue offering it on January 2, but it’s keeping the warranty around for at least another year.
The warranty covers the 2026 Ram 1500, 2500, 3500, the chassis cab models, and the ProMaster vans. It excludes the brand’s only electric vehicle, the ProMaster EV, but includes the high-performance 1500 RHO and the Power Wagon.

The warranty, available again in the United States and for the first time in Canada, will cover the engine, transmission, transfer case, driveshafts, differentials, and axles for 10 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. The 2026 warranty, like last year’s, is limited to the original owner.
According to Ram, 80 percent of new truck loans have terms that exceed five years, “outpacing traditional 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty periods.” Ram’s competitors— Ford, Chevrolet, and Toyota—all offer five-year, 60,000-mile limited powertrain warranties for their full-size trucks.
The average age of a vehicle on the road today is nearly 13 years old, too, which even exceeds Ram’s warranty offering. When the automaker announced the lengthened warranty in June, CEO Tim Kuniskis said that the brand wanted to show people it’s “making a stronger and longer commitment” to its customers.”
Motor1’s Take: Ram’s longer warranty is one way for the brand to differentiate itself as it seeks to rectify some recent mistakes and rebuild some goodwill with customers. It brought back the Hemi V8 to the 1500, the TRX will return for 2027, and a 10-year warranty is better than a five-year one, which should only help Stellantis’ turnaround in the United States.
