Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) has reported an exceptional 2024, with the Emirate welcoming 1.28 million overnight arrivals, setting a new record for tourism. This achievement marks a 12 per cent growth in tourism revenue, along with a 15 per cent rise in Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) visitors. The remarkable results are part of Ras Al Khaimah’s broader strategy to enhance its position as a global tourism hub, targeting over 3.5 million visitors annually by 2030.
Raki Phillips, CEO of RAKTDA, commented, “2024 was a milestone year for Ras Al Khaimah, showcasing our commitment to sustainability, enhanced connectivity, and diverse experiences tailored to every traveller. Looking ahead, our vision extends beyond attracting more visitors; we aim to position Ras Al Khaimah as a destination of the future. With significant investments, world-class events, and groundbreaking developments on the horizon, 2025 is set to be another remarkable year.”
Several factors contributed to the successful year, including the opening of luxury resorts such as Sofitel Al Hamra Beach Resort and Anantara Mina Al Arab Resort, which introduced the Emirate’s first overwater villas. New international flights improved accessibility, while Ras Al Khaimah International Airport became increasingly connected to key cities around the world.
In addition to a growing visitor base, the Emirate hosted internationally acclaimed events, including the HIGHLANDER Adventure hiking challenge, the Ras Al Khaimah Golf Championship, and the Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon. The year culminated in a spectacular New Year’s Eve celebration that earned two GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS titles for its drone and fireworks display.
As part of its sustainability efforts, Ras Al Khaimah continued to champion eco-friendly initiatives and foster cultural preservation. Looking forward, the Emirate remains dedicated to sustainable growth, accessible tourism, and enhancing the overall visitor experience.
