Singh is King! Awesome Aujla: Shashi Tharoor’s shoutout to his brave colleague for confronting intruder in Lok Sabha | India News

NEW DELHI: Congress leader Shashi Tharoor applauded his ‘brave colleague’ Gurjeet Singh Aujla for confronting the intruders in the lower house of parliament who jumped into the chamber from the visitor’s gallery on Wednesday. The Parliament security breach incident sent shockwaves through the country when the intruders set off smoke bombs after jumping into the lawmaker’s area and climbing over the tables during the zero hour.
Taking to X, the Thiruvananthapuram MP praised Congress leader Aujla and said “Singh is King! Awesome Aujla, my brave colleague, who confronted the intruder in the Lok Sabha.”
The startling incident happened on the 22nd anniversary of the Parliament terror attack that led to a disruption of proceedings and both houses were adjourned. Shortly after this, Tharoor raised concerns over the security breach and claimed that a sitting MP of the ruling party sponsored the intruders. He also demanded a detailed response from Union home minister Amit Shah.
“The fact that these people (intruders) were apparently sponsored by a sitting MP of the ruling party. These people smuggled in smoke pistols, which shows there is a serious security lapse. Not only did they fired the pistols but also shouted some slogans inaudible to some of us. The new building does not seem to be configured very well when it comes to security in comparison with the arrangements in the old building,” Tharoor said.

According to reports, Manoranjan D and Sagar Sharma were the intruders who released yellow gas from canisters and shouted slogans before being overpowered by MPs. Congress MP Aujla is one of the leaders who caught hold of the two men. “He had something in his hand which was emitting yellow-coloured smoke. I snatched it away and continued throwing it outside. This is a major security breach,” he said to ANI.
