SITA Expands Portfolio of Airport Solutions with Materna IPS Acquisition

 SITA is expanding its portfolio of airport
solutions with the acquisition of Materna IPS, a leader in
passenger handling for airports and airlines.

Materna IPS is a market leader in self bag-drop
technology, with a customer base spanning North America, India,
Europe and Japan.

The company also offers secure solutions for other
passenger touchpoints, from check-in to baggage claim and
boarding.

The acquisition, subject to regulatory approval,
will enable SITA to integrate Materna
IPS’s common use check-in solutions at kiosks, counters or online
self-bag drop, and more, with its own portfolio of solutions,
including biometrics, computer vision, digital travel, and airport
operations management.

With air traffic expected to double by 2040, there
is growing need for increased terminal capacities and
best-in-class secure solutions that enhance the air travel
experience for passengers and airports.

Details of the acquisition have not been
disclosed.
