Surge in Premium Bookings and Higher Spending Revealed by Trevolution Group, ETTravelWorld

New data from Trevolution Group highlights a shift in Indian travel behaviour, with greater demand for premium bookings and trip protection services. The group’s H1 2025 report showed total gross travel bookings to and from India rose to USD 68.36 million, up 6 per cent year-on-year, representing nearly 11 per cent of its global business.

Despite a drop in overall ticket volumes, especially on outbound routes, the rise in premium-class purchases and greater travel care adoption contributed to revenue growth. The company issued over 51,000 airline tickets linked to India, with inbound bookings accounting for USD 56.1 million of the total.

Business class travel, both inbound and outbound, saw double-digit growth. Demand for inbound round-trip tickets rose by nearly 14 per cent , while business class bookings increased by 27 per cent . The average business class fare to India dropped by 5.78 per cent to USD 3,725.17, making premium travel slightly more accessible. Economy fares saw a small uptick, rising 2.96 per cent to USD 921.04.

Delhi, Bangalore and Ahmedabad emerged as the top destinations for inbound travel. However, Mumbai registered a 15.94 per cent decline in demand, which the report attributes to shifting regional patterns or pricing factors.

The booking window between 51 and 60 days saw an 18 per cent surge in activity, showing a rising trend toward structured travel planning. Simultaneously, interest in last-minute and long-lead (81+ day) bookings declined slightly.

On the outbound side, gross bookings fell by over 27 per cent to USD 12.26 million, yet business class demand grew by nearly 18 per cent . Economy class bookings dropped as fares rose by almost 9 per cent . Travel care services gained traction among both inbound and outbound travellers, reflecting a post-pandemic preference for security and flexibility.

“India continues to be a cornerstone market for Trevolution Group,” said Alex Weinstein, founder of Dyninno Group of Companies. “We’re seeing more deliberate, higher-value travel, especially among business class and long-haul travellers.”
