As summer holidays approach in Europe, digital travel platform Agoda has unveiled its latest findings on Asian travel preferences. Thailand has once again emerged as the most searched Asian destination by European travellers, followed by Indonesia, Japan, and Malaysia. Vietnam has entered the top five for the first time.
India has also seen rising interest, with European searches for Indian destinations growing significantly. The United Kingdom and the Netherlands have been identified as the leading source markets, showing increased interest in Indian accommodation for the peak travel months of July and August.
According to Agoda, Malaysia saw the sharpest rise among Asian destinations, with a 20% increase in search volume compared to the previous year. China recorded a 14% uptick, attributed in part to new visa waivers for multiple European nations. Sri Lanka followed closely with a 13% increase.
The United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, and the Netherlands remain the top European countries searching for travel options in Asia. Notably, Greece, Turkey, and Poland emerged as fast-growing origin markets, registering increases of 23%, 21%, and 17% respectively.
Within India, Mumbai, Delhi NCR, and Goa emerged as the most searched cities by European tourists. The UK continues to be the largest source market for inbound travel to India, trailed by the Netherlands, France, Germany, and Italy.
Gaurav Malik, Country Director – India, Sri Lanka and Nepal at Agoda, said, “Asia continues to be a top choice for European travellers seeking summer getaways, with perennial favourites like Thailand, Indonesia, and Japan continuing to attract visitors year after year. What’s even more exciting is that there’s a rising interest for countries such as Malaysia, India, and China, reflecting an eagerness among European tourists to discover Asia’s rich cultures, scenic beauty, and hidden gems.”
The report offers insight into evolving travel trends as Asian countries continue to strengthen their appeal across diverse European markets.
