The 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser Gets One Upgrade It Was Missing

  • The 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser gains a high air intake.
  • The base 1958 Lan Cruiser starts at $59,380.
  • The entire Land Cruiser range is $285 pricier than last year’s model.

The latest Toyota Land Cruiser checks nearly every box—rugged styling, an excellent powertrain, and serious off-road capability. But until now, it’s been missing one key feature: a raised air intake. That changes for 2027.

For the new model year, Toyota adds a raised air intake as a factory option. It’s worth noting, though, that this is not the same as a snorkel. While snorkels are designed to improve water fording by sealing out moisture, this intake isn’t water-tight. Still, it looks cool and adds some functional benefit. The option costs $980 and is available on both the base 1958 trim and the standard Land Cruiser.

The 2027 Land Cruiser also introduces a new black paint color called Inked, along with an available Premium package that brings heated and ventilated rear seats. That package now costs $4,905—an increase of $550 over last year.

Pricing sees a modest bump across the lineup. The base 1958 model now starts at $59,380, while the higher Land Cruiser trim begins at $65,455—both up by $285 compared to last year.

On the base 1958 model (the one with the round headlights), available options include the aforementioned raised air intake, a $230 rear bumper guard, and a $200 liftgate light, not including dealer-installed accessories.

2027 2026
Land Cruiser 1958 $59,380 $59,095
Land Cruiser $65,455 $65,170

The higher trim offers additional upgrades, including paint options priced between $350 and $475. Along with the raised air intake and Premium package, buyers can also add a rear bumper guard and liftgate light. Other available extras include 20-inch gray alloy wheels ($1,240), a moonroof ($850), and a console cool box ($170).

Fully loaded, a 2027 Land Cruiser can climb past the $73,000 mark.

Motor1’s Take: Toyota is clearly leaning further into the Land Cruiser’s off-road identity with the addition of the raised air intake. For buyers who plan to venture off the beaten path, it’s a relatively affordable upgrade that enhances both form and function.
