Watch Fernando Alonso take delivery of Aston Martin Valkyrie

Fernando Alonso has been revealed as one of the privileged few to enjoy Aston Martin Valkyrie ownership.

The double Formula 1 world champion who currently drives for the Aston Martin F1 team took delivery of the hypercar on Wednesday in Monaco, after which he enjoyed some time driving it around the principality.

Alonso’s Valkyrie features a bespoke specification he helped develop with the Q by Aston Martin personalization department. The inspiration for the color combination came from his F1 car, and Alonso also selected some red, blue, and Aston Martin’s Lime yellow for accent stripes for the underbody. A “CAUTION HOT” script also features at the rear.

Inside, Alonso chose black Alcantara for the trim, and on each of the headrests his logo is featured. As another personal touch, Alonso had a red anodized aluminum accelerator pedal etched with the number 14, which is his current racing number. That was also the number he used when, on July 14, 1996, at age 14, he became the karting world champion.

Like all Valkyries, Alonso’s car is powered by a 6.5-liter V-12 paired with a mild-hybrid system that can provide an electric boost. The combined output for the car is 1,139 hp, or enough for 0-60 mph acceleration in under 2.5 seconds.

Production of the Valkyrie takes place at Aston Martin’s headquarters in Gaydon, U.K. A total 150 regular Valkyries are planned, plus 85 Valkyrie Spider convertibles and 40 track-only Valkyrie AMR Pros.

The Valkyrie isn’t the only limited-edition Aston Martin in Alonso’s collection. In June he also took delivery of a Valiant, a track car he helped develop.
