On Saturday, June 25, 2023, volunteers with the Montgomery County Community Cat Coalition were called to the Wheaton area to rescue dozens of Himalayan cats and kittens that had been dumped.
The cats were found in a box on the side of the road near the Sligo Creek Trail and Wheaton Regional Park.
They were all in good health, but they were scared and hungry.
The cats were taken to the Montgomery County Animal Services Shelter, where they were examined by a veterinarian.
The shelter is asking for donations to help care for the cats, including food, bedding, and medical supplies.
The shelter is also looking for foster homes for the cats.
Anyone who is interested in adopting or fostering one of the cats can contact the Montgomery County Animal Services Shelter.
The shelter's phone number is (240) 777-8900.
