Arizona State Senator Calls for Investigation into Athletic Director Ray Anderson
Arizona state senator T.J. Shope Jr. has called for an investigation into Arizona State Sun Devils athletic director Ray Anderson.
Shope cited a "raft of improprieties and frankly embarrassing issues" as grounds for the investigation.
The letter specifically mentions the hiring of former head coach Herm Edwards, the firing of Edwards last season, and the self-imposed bowl ban for the 2023 college football season.
Shope also expressed concerns about Anderson's handling of recruiting improprieties and the overall direction of the Sun Devils athletic department.
Anderson has been the athletic director at Arizona State since 2014.
He is a former NFL executive and has also worked in the NBA and Major League Baseball.
Anderson has been criticized for his handling of several issues during his time at Arizona State, including the Edwards firing and the bowl ban.
The Sun Devils have not had a winning season in football since 2018.
They have also struggled in other sports, such as basketball and baseball.
