One month into the new year and next year’s new car models keep marching into the virtual showroom. This week, Ford previewed the redesigned Explorer three-row SUV and Mazda debuted its newest vehicles, the CX-70 midsize crossover. Meanwhile, Tesla ran afoul of safety agencies yet again, and yet again it fixed the problem with a software update.

The redesigned Explorer aims to correct a rough launch of the previous generation in competing with a slew of new three-row family haulers. But this one doesn’t have a hybrid option, yet.
The Mazda CX-70 shares a platform with the larger CX-90 three-row crossover SUV, but offers more cargo space instead of a third row.
2024 Mercedes-Benz C-Class review
The 2024 Mercedes-Benz C-Class compact sedan embraces tech and comfort for a TCC Rating of 7.0 out of 10.
A hybrid sedan with a crossover style, the Toyota Crown replaces the Avalon and offers a choice between power and efficiency. It earns a TCC Rating of 6.7 out of 10.
The XC40 makes high-tech soothing, fits more space than you might expect into a compact SUV, and is at its best in fully electric Recharge form. Gas models earn a 6.5 out of 10, but Recharge models would rate considerably higher if reviewed separately.
The electric crossover now comes with a less expensive, longer-range option in the 2024 Lexus RZ 300e.
