2025 Jeep Compass price cut $2,500, starts at $27,495

• At $27,495, the 2025 Jeep Compass costs less than it used to but it’s still more than the Subaru Crosstrek
• Expensive options and packages can propel the Compass beyond $40,000
• Compass Trailhawk models have more off-road capability than rivals

The 2025 Jeep Compass arrives in dealerships this fall priced at $2,500 less than last year due to mid-model year price cuts and Jeep repositioning the compact crossover to be more competitive. The base 2025 Compass Sport costs $27,495, Jeep announced Wednesday. The 2024 Compass was originally priced at $29,995 based on data from October 2024.  

Much has changed in Jeep’s lineup since it refreshed it for 2022 then dropped in a new 2.0-liter turbo-4 for the 2023 model year. During that two-year makeover, Jeep discontinued the Cherokee midsize crossover, then cut the Renegade small crossover. Aside from the Wrangler and Gladiator off-road siblings, and the Wagoneer full-size SUVs, Jeep sells the Compass and two Grand Cherokee variants.

The redesign aimed the Compass to be more upstream, like the Grand Cherokee L, but it struggled to find its lane in a compact crossover segment teeming with multiple models from many automakers. Despite mid-cycle price cuts, sales of the Compass have lagged this year from 2023, down 3%, and down 21% for the second quarter compared to 2023. 

Jeep streamlined the 2025 Compass lineup down to four trims, Sport, Latitude, Limited, and Trailhawk. Every Compass is powered by that turbo-4 that makes 200 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque. An 8-speed automatic sends power to all four wheels, though Jeep offers two different all-wheel-drive systems, giving the Compass off-road chops that most competitors just pretend to have. 

Standard safety features across the lineup are LED lighting, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, active lane control, and blind-spot monitors. Standard convenience features include an 8.4-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cloth upholstery, and keyless entry. 

The base content is solid for the price, especially with standard all-wheel drive. It’s still at least $1,000 more than the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek and 2025 Mazda CX-30 that both come with standard AWD. The options get expensive, though. Jeep charges $1,575 for a trailer hitch and wiring harness to tow up to 2,000 pounds, while most rivals charge far less than $1,000. Features such as a panoramic sunroof are bundled into expensive Altitude packages that run $3,275. Wireless smartphone charging is offered on Latitude, Trailhawk, and Limited, but standard on none. 

The 2025 Compass Latitude costs $29,765, and adds a heated steering wheel, heated front seats, vinyl and cloth upholstery, and the Altitude package that unlocks a 10.1-inch touchscreen and other upgrades. 

The $33,840 Limited adds 18-inch wheels, fancier wipers, floormats, synthetic leather, the larger touchscreen, and a whole lot more options.  

The $33,990 Trailhawk has the Latitude’s features but upgrades the off-road gear with skid plates, all-terrain tires on 17-inch wheels, a full-size spare, three tow hooks, a low-speed crawling gear, and the suspension is raised an inch. 

Made in Mexico, the 2025 Compass goes on sale this fall.
