Airbnb launches new ‘Co-Host Network’ & over 50 new features, ET TravelWorld News, ET TravelWorld

Airbnb has introduced its 2024 Winter Release, featuring a new Co-Host Network and more than 50 upgrades aimed at enhancing both host and guest experiences. These updates are part of the company’s ongoing efforts to streamline the hosting process while providing a more personalized experience for travelers.

One of the key additions in this release is the Co-Host Network, which allows Airbnb hosts to find and hire local co-hosts through the platform. This move targets homeowners who want to rent out their properties but may lack the time or resources to manage bookings, guest communications, and property upkeep.

The Co-Host Network is designed to match hosts with experienced co-hosts, many of whom have earned Superhost status, and have a proven track record on Airbnb. Hosts can view co-host profiles, ratings, and reviews before making a decision, and can easily collaborate through the platform’s built-in tools.

Brian Chesky, Airbnb co-founder and CEO, said, “With the Co-Host Network, we’re making it easier for homeowners to rent their properties by connecting them with trusted co-hosts who can manage the day-to-day responsibilities.”

The network is currently available in 10 countries, including the US, UK, Canada, and Germany.

In a bid to cater to individual traveller preferences, Airbnb has also rolled out more than 50 new features that personalize the app’s interface, from search to booking. These upgrades include suggested destinations based on users’ past bookings, recommended search filters, and listing highlights tailored to the specific needs of travelers, such as family-friendly amenities.

The company is also expanding its payment options, adding more than two dozen local methods like Norway’s Vipps and Vietnam’s MoMo, as part of a broader effort to improve accessibility for international guests.

“For years, travel apps have been built around a one-size-fits-all approach. With these new features, we’re focusing on creating a more personalized experience for every traveler,” Chesky added.

New Tools for Hosts
In addition to guest-facing improvements, Airbnb is addressing the needs of its hosts with more than 20 new tools aimed at simplifying property management. New features include pricing suggestions based on similar listings, customizable quick replies for faster communication with guests, and an upgraded earnings dashboard that provides better financial oversight.

Global Rollout Underway
The 2024 Winter Release marks one of Airbnb’s most significant updates, reflecting the company’s efforts to remain competitive in the evolving home-sharing market. With both hosts and guests in mind, the new features are intended to make the platform more efficient for property owners while offering travellers a more tailored experience.

These features are set to roll out globally, with the Co-Host Network already live in select countries. Airbnb hosts and guests can access the updates through the platform’s app or website.

The updates arrive as Airbnb faces growing competition in the short-term rental market, with companies and independent property managers vying for a larger share of the sector, making streamlined operations and personalised services a key focus for the platform.
