This Volvo P1800 Restomod Is Just Perfect

  • Autoforma has designed a stunning Volvo P1800ES shooting brake restomod.
  • It’s available in three trims, with the bold Forward Fashionista debuting first.
  • It has a turbocharged Volvo T5 engine, a revised suspension, and bold color options.

Autoforma, a Dutch restomod design company, has introduced a stunning take on the P1800ES shooting brake from the early 1970s. The company is offering the car in three trims, starting with the Forward Fashionista—the most extreme variant.

Under the hood is a Volvo’s turbocharged T5 five-cylinder engine, which pairs with a “revised transmission.” Autoforma also upgrades the brakes with improved cooling while giving the car a quicker steering ratio.

The trim also includes reworked chassis geometry and a wider stance. The bumpers are available with anthracite, silver, and chrome brightwork, with the grille and front-end receiving reworked detailing. There are also carbon-fiber wheel arch extensions, a front chin spoiler, and an integrated roof spoiler.

LED lights are standard front and rear on the Volvo, with two forged wheel options, an optional roof rack, and a range of custom paint finishes. The Forward Fashionista trim has the widest and boldest color palette of the three trims.

Inside, there is a reupholstered dashboard, redesigned seats and door panels, and a new center console that starts at the dashboard and splits the rear seats. Autoforma even offers optional bespoke-fitted luggage to match whatever interior you decide to have.

The other two P1800 trims are called Heritage Heaven and Modern Marvel. The Heritage “honors the original design language,” according to the company, and is available with period-correct colors and materials with mechanical upgrades focused on reliability.

The Modern Marvel trim expands the scope of modernization, offering modern lighting options, upgraded suspension, and a wider range of colors and materials. Autoforma plans to build five cars per year priced at around €300,000 ($356,000 at today’s exchange rate), according to Hagerty.

Motor1’s Take: Autoforma has created a stunning Volvo P1800 SE shooting brake restomod that perfectly blends the car’s unique styling with a modern design. The photos show off a gorgeous-looking car in a body style we don’t often see, so we had to share it.
