2024 Ford F-150, GMC Acadia top this week’s new car news

The Detroit auto show kicked off with a few new vehicle debuts, including first looks at the redesigned 2024 GMC Acadia three-row crossover, as well as a refresh of the 2024 Ford F-150. We also got some seat time in the promising 2024 Kia EV9 electric three-row crossovers.

Here’s a look at what moved us this week.

2024 Ford F-150 preview

The 2024 F-150 brings a mild refresh to the automaker’s bestseller with a revised design, more standard content, a more powerful base engine, and new tricks to make life easier such as a tailgate door.

2024 GMC Acadia preview

Longer, larger, wider, taller, and loaded with more standard features, the redesigned 2024 Acadia adopts a more truck-like presence to stand out from the Traverse and fit in with the GMC family, but the V-6 gets dropped in favor of a more potent and efficient turbo-4.

2024 Volkswagen ID.4 preview

The big news for 2024 is a bigger available interface and a more powerful rear-drive motor unit on models with the larger 82-kwh battery pack.

2024 Polestar 2 review

The Polestar 2 is a fully electric hatchback that offers up some of the driving traits of European performance cars, along with a strong feature set. But its interior packaging is flawed.

2024 Kia Sportage review

While not as bold to drive as it is to behold, the Kia Sportage is a right-priced compact crossover with an appealing hybrid configuration. It scores a 6.8 out of 10.

2024 Toyota Tundra review

Boasting spectacular turbo power and a comfortable ride, the 2024 Toyota Tundra is a bruiser of a big pickup with a TCC Rating of 6.7 out of 10.

2024 Nissan Murano review

Stylish and comfortable, the midsize crossover is a bit behind the times when it comes to user interfaces and fuel economy, earning a TCC Rating of 6.2 out of 10.

2024 Infiniti QX80 review

While far from the most modern luxury SUV, the old-school QX80 is a decent value for those seeking a big vehicle capable of towing, too. It’s a 5.8 out of 10.

2024 Hyundai Kona review

Hyundai has redesigned the Kona for 2024 with an electric platform, adding more rear legroom and cargo volume, more electronic safety systems, and a variety of standard and optional features. It earns a TCC Rating of 6.0 out of 10.
