Is the 2024 Genesis G70 a good car?

Yes. It looks good, is a blast to drive, and gets some fun updates for 2024, including a new base powertrain and some styling tweaks. The G70 earns a TCC Rating of 6.5 out of 10. (Read more about how we rate cars.)

What’s new for the 2024 Genesis G70?

This year, Genesis replaces the G70’s base 2.0-liter turbo-4 with a 2.5-liter turbo-4 and upgrades to Brembo high-performance brakes across the lineup. The 3.3-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 stays on board as the more potent option. Genesis embellishes the front end with a new engraved badge, and freshens the cabin with a few new features. Finally, a couple new paint colors and upholstery choices make an appearance.

The G70 has a sleek profile, with stacked front lighting flanking the signature shield grille. The sides flow into muscular haunches that frame standard 19-inch alloy wheels and wrap around to a taut tail with more slim, stacked lighting.

Inside is simple and clean. Most details are purely functional, though this year Genesis adds a few more flourishes, like patterns to dress up some surfaces, new two-tone upholstery options, a new digital climate display, and a new frameless rearview mirror. The cabin is hardly spacious, with a cramped second row and small trunk, but it’s thoughtfully designed and finished.

The new turbo-4 makes 300 hp, an upgrade of 48 hp over last year’s model, and comes with rear-wheel drive standard and all-wheel drive optional. The G70 is even better with the 3.3-liter twin-turbocharged V-6, good for 365 hp and capable of a 60 mph run in 4.5 seconds.

The standard 19-inch wheels yield a stiff ride in most configurations, though the Sport Prestige V-6 model gets adaptive dampers that take the edge off.

The IIHS awards the Top Safety Pick+ rating, and Genesis supplies automatic emergency braking, active lane control, and adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitors, automatic high beams, and several other safety features.

The G70 2.5T Standard costs $42,695 2.5T and comes equipped with synthetic leather upholstery, power-adjustable heated front seats, an 8.0-inch digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a hands-free trunk, and 19-inch alloy wheels. All-wheel drive runs $2,100.
