The updated 2025 Honda Pilot three-row crossover SUV arrives at dealer lots now with an altered lineup that ditches the base LX trim and introduces a new range-topping Black Edition model, Honda announced Friday. Looks like Honda will nearly leapfrog the 2024 model after the redesigned 2023 model arrived in January last year.

Most trims have a $300 price increase from last year, with the Sport model representing the new entry-level grade in place of the LX and the Black Edition building off the Elite at a top price of $55,675, including destination.

Aside from the lineup change, the 2025 Honda Pilot mostly carries over from the short-lived 2024 Pilot, with a 285-hp 3.5-liter V-6 and a 10-speed automatic transmission driving the front wheels. It gets 22 mpg combined. All-wheel drive costs $2,100 on Sport, EX-L, and Touring trims. It’s standard on TrailSport, Elite, and Black Edition models.

With the LX gone, the base Sport trim comes better equipped. Standard driver-assist features include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, active lane control, blind-spot monitors, and automatic high beams.

The 2025 Honda Pilot Sport costs $41,295, including a $1,395 destination fee. That’s $350 more than the 2024 Pilot Sport, but $2,810 more than the outgoing base LX. Standard convenience features include a 7.0-inch touchscreen with smartphone compatibility, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, three-zone climate control, remote start, pushbutton start, three USB-C ports, heated front seats with power adjustments, and seating for eight passengers. It rides on 20-inch wheels, whereas the EX-L and TrailSport roll on 18s.

The 2025 EX-L might be the best buy, but at $44,595 for front-wheel drive or $46,695 for all-wheel drive, Honda’s pushing it with at an $850 increase over last year’s EX-L. Like every other Pilot, it adds wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto through a sharper 9.0-inch touchscreen, a wireless smartphone charger is also included. It has a satellite radio trial, two more USB-C ports for the third row, a 9-speaker sound system, an in-cabin microphone to holler at the elders to stop instigating the young ‘uns, leather-trimmed seats, memory front seats, and a power tailgate.

The 2025 Touring costs $48,595 ($50,695 with AWD), which is a $300 increase. It rolls on 20-inch wheels, and features a 12-speaker Bose sound system, a panoramic sunroof, synthetic leather upholstery, navigation, and a second-row bench with a removable middle seat small enough to stow into the cargo floor in back.

The $50,495 TrailSport returns with an off-road look and black trim pieces on the exterior, like a Black Edition-lite. Off-road gear includes all-terrain tires on 18-inch wheels, an inch higher ground clearance to 8.3 inches, skid plates with front and rear recovery points, a standard hitch receiver, a surround-view camera system with a front camera washer, a heated windshield, and hill descent control. AWD is standard. The interior has synthetic leather with orange stitching,  a heated steering wheel, and it’s the only trim with second-row captain’s chairs as standard. Fuel economy dips to 20 mpg combined.

The Elite costs $54,175 and upgrades to a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, perforated leather upholstery, cooled front seats, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.

Following the broader automotive trend toward black exterior accents, the 2025 Honda Pilot Black Edition also follows Black Edition versions in Honda’s own family such as on the 2024 Honda Passport midsize SUV and the 2024 Honda Ridgeline midsize pickup truck. Same as on those models, the Black Edition tops the Honda Pilot range at $55,675.

The difference between it and the Elite are gloss black 20-inch alloy wheels, a black grille bar flanked below by black air ducts, and black treatments on the side mirrors, windows, doors, and bumpers. Inside, the black is contrasted with red stitching on the perforated leather upholstery and steering wheel, as well as other red accents.

Built in Lincoln, Alabama, the 2025 Honda Pilot is on sale now.
