- 2025 Kia Sportage compact crossover carries over with a $28,565 starting price, including destination
- Hybrid models are a deal compared to the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V
- The range-topping 2025 Kia Sportage X-Line Prestige plug-in hybrid costs $45,565
The 2025 Kia Sportage compact crossover carries over for the new year, with $100 price adjustments up or down, depending on the model. The 2025 Sportage LX starts at $28,565 with a $1,375 destination fee, while the LX hybrid costs $1,400 more, Kia announced Monday.
Standing pat on pricing is a change from the 2024 Sportage, when gas models had at least an $800 increase and hybrid and plug-in hybrid models were at least $1,000 more with minor changes.
The only real changes are a new Premium Package with a sunroof and hands-free tailgate offered on the EX grade, and the popular blacked-out treatment on the exterior trim and wheels of X-Line and X-Pro trims.
2025 Kia Sportage gas model
Most Sportage models are powered by a 2.5-liter inline-4 that makes 187 hp and 178 lb-ft of torque. It comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive costs $1,800 extra across the lineup except on X models, where it is standard. Every Kia has a 5-year/60,000-mile warranty.
Every Sportage comes well equipped with safety features such as LED headlights with automatic high beams, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, active lane control, parking sensors, and a rear-occupant alert. Standard convenience features include an 8.0-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12.2-inch digital instrument cluster, and Bluetooth pairing for two phones simultaneously. It rolls on 17-inch wheels.
It’s offered in LX, EX, SX, SX-Prestige, X-Line, X-Pro, and X-Pro Prestige grades.
The $30,665 EX adds 18-inch wheels and gloss black bits to the exterior. Inside, it swaps out cloth upholstery for synthetic leather, and upgrades to a 10-way power driver’s seat, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, and a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen, though it loses wireless connectivity despite adding a wireless smartphone charger. It has blind-spot monitors and a safe-exit warning to alert occupants of a cyclist or car coming up on their blindside before exiting the car.
The $34,165 SX costs $33,915 can’t be equipped with AWD, but it has fancy features such as navigation-based adaptive cruise control and a Harman Kardon sound system. Turn it up even spicier with the SX Prestige that adds 19-inch wheels, premium synthetic leather upholstery, a power passenger seat, heated and cooled front seats, a heated steering wheel, and parking sensors. It checks out at $36,165, and can be equipped with AWD for $1,800 more.
The $33,465 X-Line and $37,665 X-Pro roll standard with AWD, and while the X-Line’s blacked out trim pieces look like the X-Pro, the X-Pro has more soft-road capability. It has 17-inch wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich all-terrain tires and a locking center differential for some off-road power on uneven, rutted paths.
2025 Kia Sportage hybrid model
Kia narrows down the trim offerings in the Sportage Hybrid down to LX, EX, and SX-Prestige, and they’re equipped the same as their gas counterparts aside from the powertrain. Only the LX comes with front-wheel drive, and it costs $29,965. The Hybrid LX with AWD runs $31,765.
Not only is the Sportage Hybrid only $1,400 more than the gas model, it’s considerably less than the 2024 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid with AWD that costs $33,075 and the 2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid that starts at $35,700 with front-wheel drive.
Hybrid versions get a 1.6-liter turbo-4 with an electric motor and a 1.49-kwh lithium-ion battery pack rated at 227 hp. A 6-speed automatic smooths out the power delivery. The Sportage Hybrid rates at 42/44/43 mpg, while AWD lowers the fuel economy to 38 mpg combined.
2025 Kia Sportage plug-in hybrid model
The 2024 Kia Sportage plug-in hybrid comes standard with all-wheel drive and is sold only in off-road related X-Line and X-Line Prestige models. The Sportage PHEV X-Line costs $41,065, while the fully loaded X-Line Prestige costs $45,565.
The Sportage plug-in hybrid uses the same 1.6-liter turbo-4 as the Hybrid but it has a larger electric motor to produce a combined 261 hp and 258 lb-ft. The hybrid system uses a 6-speed automatic transmission with a clutch that disengages the engine for full electric power, and the 13.8-kwh battery pack enables 34 miles of electric range. It can be as efficient as the equivalent of 84 mpg, or without electric power, the Sportage PHEV still gets 35 mpg combined.
The vast 2025 Kia Sportage lineup goes on sale soon.
