Ford has issued a recall on multiple pickup trucks from its Super Duty range due to the potential failure of their high-pressure fuel pumps.
Vehicles listed in the recall include the 2020-2022 F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550, and F-600, as well as the 2021-2022 F-650 and F-750. However, this recall applies only to models equipped with the available 6.7-liter V-8 turbodiesel engine.
A total of 295,449 vehicles are affected in the U.S.
According to the recall notice (campaign number 24V957000) published by the NHTSA on Dec. 20, 2024, aged biodiesel deposits can accumulate on the pump drivetrain roller components over time, potentially leading to fuel pump failure. This issue could result in the loss of drive power, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford stated that owners may notice extended crank times when starting, excessive engine noise, reduced engine power, and the check engine light illuminating.
Ford also reported that it is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue.
The remedy requires dealers to update the powertrain control module software to enhance pump cooling and prevent the formation of biodiesel deposits. This service will be performed free of charge.
