Bangladesh 170 for 2 (Shanto 53*, Litton 36, Pathirana 2-28) beat Sri Lanka 165 for 5 (Mendis 37, Mendis 36, Soumya 1-5) by eight wickets
When Sri Lanka were put into bat for the second game in a row, Kamindu Mendis and Kusal Mendis took charge of the Sri Lanka innings from the fourth over after Taskin Ahmed removed Avishka Fernando for a duck. The pair got a six each off Taskin Ahmed’s 17-run over. Kamindu flicked Taskin over backward square-leg, the ball flying fast to the base of the eastern gallery. Kusal Mendis, meanwhile, whipped Taskin over square-leg for the second six in the over. They also took 15 runs off Mustafizur Rahman’s first over, to finish the powerplay strongly.
Kusal then struck Mustafizur over square-leg for his second six, before giving offspinner Mahedi Hasan a similar treatment in the eighth over. The Sylhet pitch was playing its part as a flat belter, and it looked like Sri Lanka were set for another 200-plus total.
