Following a refresh for the 2024 model year, the 2025 Hyundai Sonata continues with minor changes, including the reintroduction of the base SE grade.
The SE starts at $27,800 including the mandatory $1,150 destination charge, which is actually $250 more than the SEL model that was the base trim level for 2024. The SEL now starts at $28,900 with destination, but Hyundai has also changed the SEL Convenience from an option package to a separate trim level for 2025, with a $31,950 starting price.
The SE, SEL, and SEL Convenience all use a 2.5-liter inline-4 producing 191 hp and 181 lb-ft of torque, with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The sportier N Line model has a 2.5-liter turbo-4 producing 290 hp and 311 lb-ft of torque with an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox for $36,400. Most Sonata models are front-wheel drive, but all-wheel drive is available on the SEL for an additional $2,000.

The Sonata Hybrid also returns in SEL and Limited configurations, priced at $32,150 and $38,600, respectively. The hybrid powertrain consists of a 2.0-liter inline-4, a 6-speed automatic transmission with an integrated electric motor, and a 1.62-kwh battery pack. Available only with front-wheel drive, the Sonata Hybrid is rated at 192 hp and 47 mpg combined.
A 12.3-inch touchscreen is standard, and though Hyundai has made progress in making wireless smartphone connectivity compatible with its bigger screens, it’s only managed a half step here. Wireless Android Auto is now standard, but Apple CarPlay still requires a cable. Four USB-C ports (two per row of seats) are standard as well.

Standard driver-assist features include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and active lane control.
The Sonata still boasts the industry’s best warranty, with 5-year/60,000-mile basic and 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain coverage.
The current-generation Sonata launched for the 2020 model year, but saw a dramatic facelift inside and out for the 2024 model year to help keep pace with competitors like the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry.
